rowing / canoeing / kayaking / sculls

I'm not sure it belongs here, but I'll give it a shot.

As I was working on Wikipedia articles about Uladzimir Parfianovich and Ekaterina Karsten I realized that I don't really understand the difference between the terms rowing / canoeing / kayaking / sculls in English. Could someone explain to me the exact meaning of these words in English and how they are different from each other. (And keep in mind it's about professional sport terminology, I'm not particularly interested how these terms are used in recreational kayaking/canoeing or in slang.) Thanks.
