"The sculpture was displayed under the name..."; "put dates on his works preceeding the actual..."

1) "The sculpture was displayed under the name..."
The context: the sculpture was named by the sculptor, say, December, but was displayed at an art show as, say, November. So is it OK to say "the sculpture was displayed under the name November"? Or maybe "the sculpture was displayed as November" sounds better?

2)"The sculptor put on his works dates preceding their actual production dates since he was eager to secure his anteriority (primacy?) in the creation of new art forms" - does it sound OK? I think the context is clear, but just in case: a sculptor produced a work in June 1916 but dated it January 1916, and such things happened more than once (exact dates do not matter). The goal was to become viewed as a pioneer of a particular art form that was evolving at that time.

Many thanks!
