aware?

Could someone please explain the use of the word aware to me? It must have changed somehow. I was taught that you cannot use it before a noun, but now I suddenly read "his tangible and aware style of writing" and "Friends Aware Salary". I'm not even sure what that means. I googled, but it doesn't help much.
