Resources for 10-minute English lessons

Hi linguaphiles,

I work in Somalia and have started teaching brief (10-minute) English lessons to the guards in my compound on a near-daily basis. The focus is on speaking and listening, and the only resources I have are a whiteboard and pens, and myself. There's around 20 of them and their ability ranges from absolute beginner to more or less conversational. I sometimes have a translator for the real beginners, but not always.

I've taught English as a foreign language before, but always within a university or language school with some sort of syllabus, materials etc. - this is quite different, and I'm starting to run out of ideas for what I can cover in the time available, particularly given the other constraints. Does anyone have any suggestions of materials that might help, either online resources or books? I'm happy to buy books that I can use but I can't buy books for all of them to use (they'd be too heavy to bring into the country!).

Thanks in advance.
