If anyone still needed proof that using Google Translate for professional translation is not a good idea:

Image taken by me in a hotel in Potsdam, Germany; entering the German word into Google Translate indeed gives me the exact same English term.

The hotel is part of a chain catering to business travellers etc., not some small family business. All English text I saw on menus was of a similar quality with errors both in grammar and meaning (such as a dish with herbs ["Kräuter"] suddenly becoming cabbage ["Kraut" in some dialects]). However, the one in the picture was the one that made me break down in helpless laughter at breakfast. I wonder how many international travellers spend their whole stay in that hotel in a state of utter confusion.
