Introduction

Hi everybody ! I´m not a student or anything like that. I´m a native speaker of German and learned English at school for several years, but now I have no use for it in my everyday life, except for watching Hollywood movies and listening to music.
The internet is the only place where I use the language actively, especially when writing fan fiction for my favourit television series, such as Star Trek : Deep Space Nine or Battlestar Galactica. Once I tried to take part in a discussion on a livejournal community, people got mad at me for butchering their language...well....I´m aware that my spelling/grammar/punctuation isn´t ace due to me being a non native speaker, but I think their reaction was a bit rude.
So can you help me to improve somehow ?
