emphasis in "good-looking"

Speakers of North American English:

Where do you stress this word, and where did you grow up? I grew up in Washington state, and emphasize the second part of the word. My sister is at college in Montana (not so far away!) and says everyone pronounces it good-looking, which sounds odd to my ears. I was watching a show last night with a New Yorker who also stressed the first syllable. Idiolect or regionalism?
