Pronoun problems in English writing

I'm trying to help a guy improve his writing but he refuses to believe that there actually is a problem with his stuff. To be specific, he writes sentences such as as the following, which describes a fight between two girls:

She had hit her with her best solo technique; she was literally bleeding out on the ice. How could she be still standing, let alone hitting harder?

Since it's possible to eventually figure out who did what, writer dude alleges that the problem is actually with my reading comprehension. What is the name of this particular grammatical error so I can google it and bury the guy under an avalanche of grammar websites?
