Salt wife

I KNOW I saw this somewhere recently, and I could have sworn it was here, but for the life of me I can't find it- here or anywhere. Can someone please explain to me what the term "salt wife" means? The obvious (?) connection I'm drawing is to Lot's wife, but on the other hand all the references I come across seem to be talking about sailors, and Google is providing me with no clear explanation either way.
