Quick French help!

A friend asked for a translation of "The owls are not what they seem.," and I tried my best to translate it.

I wrote: "Les hiboux ce qui ne sont pas semble.," but it doesn't sound right.  I'm not even sure if I am using the correct words and even less confident about how I've set up the sentence.

No, I haven't written back to her yet.  Any help would be great!  Merci!  Thanks for the help and now I know it is, "Les hiboux ne sont pas ce qu'ils semblent."
