Bunched vs. Retroflex

Can anyone explain the difference between bunched and retroflex /r/? I need a very basic definition as my classmates and I are having a dispute over the matter.


Also.. the difference between the phonemes: /ɹ/ and /r/ as used by the IPA. A few of my textbooks have contrasting usages and I was wondering what the linguaphiles think!
