"Haitch"

'Haitch' or 'aitch'? How do you pronounce 'H'?

I'm a US English speaker, and only learned in 2009 that some UK speakers say "haitch". The article seems to be saying that the trend is toward that pronunciation. Am I reading that right?

What do you say? Is "haitch" strictly a UK thing? Is it regional within the UK? My friend who says "haitch" is from Milton Keynes.

Edit: When and where was the first time you can recall hearing "haitch"?
