Polish word of the day - natural sentences?
Hi everyone!
Is anyone here familiar with Transparent Language's "Word of the Day"? http://www.transparent.com/wotd/
I stumbled upon it recently, and I'm wondering if it's a good resource. I'm mainly interested in using the Polish example sentences for flashcards - but do the sentences sound natural? Or am I better off sticking with my textbooks?
Polish example sentences under the cut:
Zgodziliśmy się, że będziemy sobie pomagać.
We agreed we will be helping each other.
Jedziemy na Jamajkę, będziemy opalać się codziennie od rana do wieczora.
We're going to Jamaica, we'll be sunbathing from morning till night.
Przez cały dzień poprawiałam testy moich uczniów.
I was correcting my students' tests all day long.
Zamiast pracować, ona ciągle plotkuje z przyjaciółkami.
Instead of working, she is always gossiping with her friends.
Gdy byłam małą dziewczynką, często karmiłam kaczki.
When I was a little girl, I often fed ducks.
Suszyłam moje świeżo pomalowane paznokcie, kiedy zadzwonił telefon.
I was drying my freshly painted nails when the phone rang.
Kopali głęboko w poszukiwaniu skarbów.
They were digging deep in search of a treasure.
Polskie linie lotnicze regularnie latają do Nowego Jorku i Chicago.
Polish airlines fly regularly to New York and Chicago.
Dziecko lubiło dźwięk tykającego zagara.
The baby liked the sound of the ticking clock.
To me, some of the English seems a little strange or maybe overly formal (?), but as long as the Polish is fine, I'm good to go!
