chinese speech questions

Hello! I'm doing a spot of translation and I was wondering if some Chinese readers in this community would mind helping me out on one point.

This is the sentence in question:

华侨城小学创建于1980年，沧桑卅载，流金岁月。

The first part is pretty straightforward, but though I've heard the last expression I don't really know how to parse it here, and the middle part is just kind of escaping me completely-- something about thirty years ago?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! :)
