This is probably a rather stupid question, but I need to make sure :)

I have a sentence "The desire of the older Charlie to make Richard suffer." I'm not sure if there should be the article 'the' before 'older Charlie'? Or if it even can be there. I'd leave it like it is, but I'm really not sure. Any help is appreciated :)
