練習

My friend is looking to make a small graphic (i.e. a stamp or hanko kind of thing) to denote that an element in a language learning computer program has been added to a practice list. He'd like it to be a single Japanese character, but I'm unsure as to whether there's one that'd be conventionally used for this purpose.

I would have assumed that either 練 or 習 would be appropriate, but I can't tell which one would look more natural.

Any ideas? Or are we barking up the wrong tree entirely?

Thanks in advance. :)
