Royalty-free Japanese fonts

Hopefully this is the right place to ask:

Me and a friend are currently looking for a variety of free-to-use/royalty-free Japanese-language fonts for personal and commercial use, particularly of the "cute/handwriting/san-serif" variety.

Does anybody happen to know of a good place to find some? Our efforts currently amount to trawling through the wilderness of the Japanese web and assorted terms and conditions, and we'd kill to save some time.

Thanks in advance!
