what does can't win for trying mean? couldn't find it on google, urbandictionary only got can't win for losing with same (?) obscure logic.

encountered it in Sasha Grey's twitter:

I just offered a bum frozen yogurt. Grumbling, he said, "I'm on a diet!" Can't win for trying.
