English inquiry

Hi there~ My friend and I are trying to figure out a word (English - USA). Is there a sole word for "someone who quits their [job] position"? Essentially, it's the opposite of "employee". "Quitter" has a negative connotation and doesn't quite have the same meaning. Thanks~
