Swabian German
I'm planning on spending some or all of my junior year of college (2010-2011) at my university's program in Tübingen, Germany. I'm taking German now, but of course this is Hochdeutsch. I would imagine that my university classes will be in Hochdeutsch and that I would probably get around just fine with it, but I would really like to start at least acquainting myself with Swabian dialect (please correct me if this is not in fact that dialect spoken in Tübingen!). It would be nice to at least be used to hearing it so I could understand it enough to be able to respond in Hochdeutsch if necessary. Are there any good resources for getting acquainted with Swabian? Or is it so different that I shouldn't even bother and should just hope that people I meet on the street are kind enough to speak Hochdeutsch to me?
Thank you!
Thank you!
