Colors

In English, when you're describing an object, would you say "crimson red" or just "crimson"? I've seen crimson red before, but it seems redundant. There's only one shade of 'crimson' that I know of so it wouldn't be distinguishing it from another type of 'crimson', right?

If this happens in other languages, that would be great to know too!

Edit- Thanks ! There seems to be different opinions across the board, but my question has been answered- it's a matter of personal preference/writing style. I'd recommend reading the comments anyway because they were quite interesting!
