TESOL certification

Hi guys, I hope it's okay that I post questions regarding this topic here - I know it's not strictly related to specific 'language' help, but I feel you all could give me some good feedback and resources given your linguaphile knowledge and insight =)

I just wanted to know what is considered the most 'official' or well-known and recognized certification program for TESOL. There are so many programs and ways of going about getting a certificate, or a MA degree, but I'm confused as to which one I'd pursue. I've considered i-to-i's 100 hr online course, but I've been told that online courses for TESOL are not as favourable or reputable, as in-person classes...and for in-person classes, I've heard CELTA is among the best, are there any other good programs to consider? And, would getting a master's or doctorate degree, from a university in the US, in TESOL qualify me for the same credentials as taking an online or in-person course? THanks for the info - I really appreciate it!
