Slaveholder in French?

A simple how do you say, as I can't seem to find any definitive answer in any of my usual sources:

What is the French word for a person who owns slaves? English has it as "slaveholder", or possibly "slaveowner".

I'm not speaking about someone whose main trade is in slaves, which would be a slaver; I'm looking specifically for the word for a plantation owner, say, who owns slaves.

I'm working on a translation of an academic paper.
