The middle color on a traffic light

I usually refer to the color between red and green on a traffic light as "orange," and then my friends laugh at me because I call it "orange" and not "yellow." I don't remember where I got this habit - I'm a native speaker of American English but I lived mostly in Germany and France until I was a teenager. Is calling the middle light "orange" something I might have picked up living overseas, or is it just weird quirk I happen to have? What do you call the middle light where you come from?
