German

My friend was saying that German sounds very "rough". Why so? Is it because of the glottal stops? Are there any other qualities about the phonology that makes it so?

Do you (german and non-german speakers) think that these qualities are "transferred" when German speakers speak other languages say English?

Can the opposite be said of French? Why do people always say the French language is very sexy?
