Nick Nicholas asks for a translation of a plate on a house in Amsterdam, apparently written in "Old Dutch orthography".
As near as I can make out, it says:
Beni yt Niemans Proffyt
Laat Ej leckop Hoopen Bouwe
Want O Gy Het Schoon Benyt
Het Fertuyn Sal Syn Loop Houwe
And the bottom one:
D Glasemakers Winkel
("The glass-maker's shop"?)
Can anyone here help him?
Also, what would the text be in modern Dutch?
