a scissors

I was watching a cooking show on tv today and noticed that the host said to "cut off the extra string with a scissors." I had never heard "scissors" take an indefinite article before. Is this a dialetical thing? Google hits for "a scissors" does show some of this construction, but most of them use scissors adjectivally as in "a scissors lift." Anyone here say "a scissors?"
