A question to native English speakers.
Friends, how do you feel about people who speak English with an accent other than your own?
There could be several different cases:
* another person is also a native speaker but she's from another country or from another region of your country (for example he/she is British or Australian)
* another person is not a native speaker and he/she speaks with a heavy or not-so-heavy accent
Do you get annoyed with her? Maybe you feel superior to her? Maybe some other feelings, maybe positive - like sympathy?
For example imagine a situation that your professor at the University speaks with an accent. Does it undermine his authority?
Or imagine you are a professor and some of your students have heavy accents.
Hope this question is not unappropriate for this community. Thanks in advance for your responses.
Loosely speaking this question could be also generilized to native speakers of other languages, of course.
