language spoken in documentaries about ancient Egypt

I've been watching several documentaries about ancient Egypt lately, and I've started to wonder what language the actors are speaking. Do linguists have a good idea of how Egyptian sounded (most of my documentaries take place when they would have been speaking Late Egyptian), or do they just have the actors speak in a related language, or even gibberish? I know you all might have seen different documentaries than what I'm watching now, but I'm generally curious.
