Question about Polish spelling

Reading a text from the '80s today I ran into the word "rewolucyj" as the genitive plural of "rewolucja". I always thought this was an archaic form, and that the modern genitive plural was "rewolucji", just like the singular. But I thought the "-yj" ending had been phased out long before the eighties. Am I wrong? Is "-yj" still current, or was it phased out more recently than I thought?
