"floating panel"

The context is a description of a clothes store, where "the display systems are mounted upon floating panels in black lacquer." For instance, how is a floating panel different from a non-floating panel :)))? I've tried to google out thee pictures, but unsuccessfully so far -- nothing that would fit the description. Thamks!
