Help! I want to be able to type Japanese on this XP Computer and It's giving me heck!

Argh! :( Help!

I'm trying desperately to be able to view kanji (let alone hiragana!) on this computer in either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox Portable (and for MS Paint and/or AbiWord Portable, hopefully!), because I'm trying to throw together a presentation for my Japanese class tonight, and want to be able to show the class some kanji as part of it (it's not required to do so, but I can get extra credit for introducing new kanji during it, and I am determined to get an A this semester :P), and this is the only home computer I have that can connect to a printer; if I use a school computer, I will have to pay for all the pages I print past the first one, and I'm pretty much broke. :(

The problem? The computer is NOT making this easy.

I've tried searching for Add-Ons and installing them... but apparently I can't just install the ability to read Japanese IME in Firefox Portable, or else I'm crap at looking for it. Moji doesn't work if your computer can't already read Japanese!

I've tried the Microsoft website, trying to install the Japanese language pack for MS Office... but unfortunately, the download isn't working for me, it just glitches and freezes up on me.

I've even tried just downloading new fonts by googling for "Japanese fonts" and such... but the problem is that all the free fonts for Japanese? So far seem to be downloadable only from Japanese-language websites, which I can't read and thus am having trouble downloading from right now because, duh, it only shows me question marks instead of kana and kanji! Not to mention I'm not even sure how to install a new font in the first place. :/

At this point, I would appreciate even so much as image files of kanji, katakana and hiragana that I can cut/paste/rearrange in MS Paint, but I'm having trouble tracking down some of those since I wanted to use a lot of kanji. :/

Can anybody help me sort this out? I really, really want to be able to show kanji to the class using nice, clean text! :(
