I'm in a French literature course at the moment, and we're focusing on epic poetry. We have already completed our unit on La Chanson de Roland, for which I found the most marvelous text in our campus library. Here's a link to it on Amazon.fr: http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/2070371506/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A1X6FK5RDHNB96
What I like about this copy is that the text is available in the original (well, close) old French AS WELL AS modern French! Most other copies I've found have had the old French and modern English. This is where you come in, hopefully! Can any of you point me towards similar bilingual (Old French and Modern French) texts for the other two books that we need? Our teacher has said that "all these texts are available in the Lettres Gothiques series, with facing modern French translation and a helpful select bibliography." I still haven't found any that I'm 100% sure are in Old and Modern French.
Le Cycle de Guillaume d'Orange (including, from what I can figure out, Le Couronnement Louis, La Prise d'Orange, Moniage Guillaume, and Aliscans)
Raoul de Cambrai
I'm currently in the UK, so I need to be able to have them shipped here. I've checked with Grant and Cutler in London, but I'm still not absolutely certain that there are any copies with old and modern French (no English!). I need both - she reads the old French to us in class, and we discuss the language differences, but we actually *read* the stories themselves in regular French, so...
Thank you so much for anyone who might be able to help me with this! I really need to order the books ASAP in order to have them read by the time class discussions start (probably two weeks from now).
Merci en avance!
