Do przyjaciół moskali
In Dziady, by Adam Mickiewicz, there's a poem that follows the play itself called Do przyjaciół moskali, which I've seen translated as "To Russian Friends", "To My Russian Friends", "To My Muscovite Friends", that kind of thing.
I was wondering what moskali is, exactly. It seems like it should be an adjective, but surely that would be something like Do przyjaciół moskalich, right? Is it a noun, moskal, with moskali as the genitive plural and Mickiewicz has just stuck two nouns in a row? And the copy of Dziady I have puts the title of the poem in all caps, so is moskali a proper noun that should be capitalized in normal text?
