Listening without attempting to comprehend

English is my native language. Spoken it for as long as I can remember, and don't remember ever having much trouble with comprehending it. While that's great for being able to use the language, I've noticed that with other languages I've learned I can turn off comprehension if I choose to, and just listen to them for how they sound. Is one's native language so ingrained that this is impossible, or can one train themselves to do it? Kind of curious what it's like to hear English without understanding the meaning of it.
