Shibboleths

What are your local area shibboleths? You know, those words that tell you that a person's not from the area. Until last year, I never realized that not all of the cities I live around are pronounced as one could reasonably expect. For example, San Rafael near San Francisco is actually pronounced /sæn ɹəfɛl/ instead of the more intuitive /sæn ɹafaɛl/. I didn't realize we pronounced it weird until my wife saw an exit sign on the freeway and pronounced it /sæn ɹafaɛl/.

So I've been thinking lately about other shibboleths. I know that Houston St in New York is pronounced /haʊstən/ and not like Houston the city in Texas which is /hyustən/.

So, give me your shibboleths!
