Cyrillic Alphabet Help

Hello all. I have found a pretty good source for teaching myself Russian and I really think I could be successful in using it, but the only problem is that the program seems to assume that I already know the Cyrillic alphabet. For the most part, I'm pretty familiar with the sounds that each letter makes, but I'd really like someone to lay it out formally for me. Can anyone recommend a good source for learning the Cyrillic alphabet and also the functions of ъ and ь?

And just for fun, my name is Nikos and I've often spelled it as Никос and I was wondering if that was actually correct.
