I might be crazy...

BUT...

Right now I'm trying to make my schedule for my final year at university (AAAHHH OMG FINALLY!!), and I'm curious......has anyone here taken more than 2 languages at once in university or anywhere? I'm currently taking Japanese, and I'm at a pretty advanced level. I'll be in the highest level classes when I return to my school (I'm studying abroad right now). I am considering taking French and Korean at the same time. I don't really have any background in studying French besides a week-long stint in a class before I got accepted into my Japanese class, but I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school and that's...kinda similar =D? And with Korean...I'd be a complete beginner...kind of. I hear the grammar patterns in Japanese and Korean are quite similar, so maybe I shouldn't call myself a complete beginner.

I'm thinking it may really just be up to the person and personality, whether or not they can handle studying more than one language at a time, as well as the desire of the person to be successful in whatever they are doing..but I'm not sure. I might just be crazy. One year won't get me very far when it comes to actually comprehending the language to a decent degree, I'm sure, but I figure at least I'll know if I honestly DO like these languages I've chosen, and if I'd really like to continue study outside of university. Oh, and I FINALLY have time in my schedule. YEY~

It's one of my dreams to become a polyglot...haha. But I don't want to burn myself out with trying my hardest to learn 3 languages at once (and I also don't want to destroy my already pooptastic GPA...), so I'd really love to hear different experiences of people learning a few languages at once. =)

Thank you all in advance for any advice and/or anecdotes!!! And this will probably be crossposted...to a few other places. =)

((By the way, I just joined this comm and my name is Jenn! My mother tongue is English, I grew up listening to English and French Patois because of my parents, I studied Spanish for a few years in high school, and I'm currently studying Japanese abroad in Tokyo. As previously stated, I wanna be a polyglot. so I should probably go do my homework =). Nice to meet you all!!))
