Teaching ESL

I'm going to start teaching an ESL class for Spanish speaking seniors soon. I've decided to use the book "Side by Side" (but that's not set in stone if anyone has any other suggestions). Does anyone have any general advice for me, having never taught an ESL class before? Obviously  if I'm posting in this community I have a fair amount of knowledge about language in general, but perhaps less about activities, etc. that would be good for teaching English. And if anyone's used this particular book before, even better. Just give me anything you have, basically.
