楽引き辞典 issues

Found the famous DS kanji dictionary at an import games dealer at Fanime a couple weeks ago, it's turned out to be a lot more fun to play with than I'd imagined. The quizzes are particularly fun to mess with and pick things up from. Just one minor issue, though...I've gone through and double-checked stroke orders and everything, but for the life of me, I can't get it to write certain characters:

み - always registers as お, though I can pick it up by asking it to show close matches
鳥 - always comes up as something else, though it usually appears in close matches
馬 - never comes up, no matter what I do, and never shows up in close matches

Does anyone know ways to either train the dictionary to recognize the strokes for these, or write characters that are similar enough to show up under the near matches?
