Script Phobia

I suffer from script phobia. Meaning whenever I try to pick up a non-Latin script my mind shuts down and I get super paranoid. It hasn't been much of a problem as I most of my languages are Latin-based but I am now tryng to learn Hindi and script phobia rears its ugly head. I could pick up Tamil fine as I was tutored but Hindi tutors are not a dime a dozen here and where I am, I need to depend on myself and free resources for it.
I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for conquering this age-old phobia, with or without relation to Hindi.
