Sociolinguistics Project

This is just a follow-up to my previous post about my project. It can be found here: http://community.livejournal.com/linguaphiles/3146410.html. Thank you to all who responded.

I intentionally made the first post vague in order to avoid steering the results too much. The identification questions were based on a study done by John Baugh of Stanford. It was his study that spawned my interest in what makes people draw race/ethnicity conclusions based solely on voice. Any way, the answers for the identifications are:

  1. Black, African-American

  2. Black, Carribean

  3. Hispanic, Latina

  4. Hispanic, Latino

  5. Middle Eastern, Arab

  6. White, Caucasian

  7. Indian

Anyway, that's it in a nutshell. Thanks for responding.
