Italian etymology of tiorba

A theorbo is a large bass lute. When it became popular in Italy, it was at first called chitarrone, but later it came to be generally called tiorba (other European forms of that word: theorbo, tuorbe, theorbe). Chitarrone is a big chitarra (guitar) -- but what is the etymology of tiorba?
