The speech accent archive, but different?

The speech accent archive contains samples of people from all different sorts of dialects and backgrounds reading the same English paragraph. That's awesome, but not what I want.

What I'm looking for is an archive of samples of people who don't speak English natively saying something in their own words. Something that I could listen to for grammatical errors, rather than accent.

Sound samples would be best but transcriptions are also useful, provided they're done by people who are accurate.

Does anyone know of such a thing? It seems like people who study second language acquisition would have a use for it.

Stepping down

Hello guys,

After a lot of thinking, I have decided to step down from the linguaphiles maintainer team. I don't have a lot of time to dedicate myself to this community in this capacity anymore. I will be stepping down on May 11th, which is the 4th anniversary of me coming aboard (I'm OCD about evenness, so it's either Tuesday or 5/11/11... though, that does have a nice ring to it... ).

Anyway, while I am not the owner of this community, I do however own the YahooGroup Maintainer list where you all contact us. So, I will be transferring ownership to pne. Other than that, there will be no further changes there.

I'm not leaving the community. I'll still be here in one way or another... answering questions about Tagalog or other languages I know.. or even asking what kind of Kanji characters or Mkhedruli letters I should put on my upcoming tattoo*. Thanks to sparkofcreation for making me maintainer 4 years ago, and also my fellow maintainers and thanks to the rest of you!

May the Ben be with you,

Chris aka tisoi

*J/K!!!!! Ok? don't be hatin'...!
