Looking for a word...

Let's say you were a woman living in a polygamous society.  What relation would another wife of your husband be to you?  I'm pretty sure there's a world for this in English.  And out of curiousity, how would you say it in other languages?

In adult edition, what exactly does adult mean?

Context: HP vol 7 is offered as adult edition, and I was wondering if it contains adult material, because I can't find the phrase adult edition in dictionaries.

ogham resources

hey folks! i just joined the community and i have a question about researching ogham.

for a long time i've been wanting an ogham tattoo. ever since i learned about ogham's existence 6 or 7 years ago. i want it to say my name, and then 'daughter of" and my parents names.

but i don't want it to be totally half assed, or extremely innacurate, so i wanted to get some good reference materials. any suggestions of books? looking up 'ogham' or 'ogam' doesn't give me a lot at the library but i figure there are probably some books whose main topics are more general. websites are cool too but i have trouble trusting the internet. which is dumb because books lie, i know.

year number preceding a dependent noun

Cheerful oink to everyone!

If I want to say that something was done "upon one's order (ruling) issued in year 1928" (just for instance; the actual year doesn't matter), can I put it so: "Upon his 1928 order (ruling)"? I know there may be many ways to express this, but what interests me is whether this particular construct is correct?

The Spanish in Equatorial Guinea

I think among Spanish-speaking countries, Equatorial Guinea seems to be overlooked (heck I didn't know Spanish was still spoken in Africa until a few years ago). I found a couple of Spanish music videos from that country on YouTube.

This one is Ay Corazón by Hijas del Sol (they are an aunt-niece duo)

In the cut is Déjenlos hablar by Obama (no, not the candidate).

Portuguese Academy?

Hello there! I've a quick question.

Is there a Portuguese equivalent of the Real Academia Española? Barring that, I'm looking for a website that provides the etymology for Portuguese words.

Obrigado a todos!

I hear the phrase "tri-county" all the time. E.g. "In the tri-county area". However, there seem to be an almost unending number of "tri-counties". Does this phrase usually refer to a single geographic location? Or is the occurrence of one metropolitan centre spread over three counties really that common?
